A Psalm About My Daily Life

I am happy to report that grad school is going really well.  So far we have discussed the difference between prescriptive and descriptive grammar, formalism, structuralism, and the parts of speech.  For each of my two classes I have had to announce the topic for my two 15-page research papers. And we just finished Week 3!

I am also working on a short story to complete my Masters in Metaphysics. It has to be 5000 words and it has to have a metaphysical theme.  Either my protagonist or my antagonist will probably be witches, so that will be fun!

In the meantime, I’ve somehow found time to write a poem. It’s actually a Psalm, and the subject matter is my weekday mornings!

Have a blessed week!

The Daily Grind

I turned on the computer and greeted the dawn.

Behold, the living room, a ten-second commute.

Ungodly early it was, and sleep oppressed me.

The dream-state battled Clarity for my brain.

I started work, on time, as it were.

A reliable person, who can find?

I work, because it’s money I need.

Those who eat, the same must work.

I laughed and joked with my pupils in joy.

Moody darkness hastened far from me.

Then I logged off and started my day,

The waning morning winked at me and smiled.
